Members of the Oireachtas are paid a basic salary plus a salaried allowance based on any additional positions they hold.
This annual allowance comprises the travel and accommodation allowance and the public representation allowance.
TDs, Senators and political parties employ their administrative staff but these staff are paid by the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission.
Members may claim a once-off allowance for constituency, mobile phone and security costs.
