Good afternoon everyone. As I have recently been appointed as Chairman of the committee, I am required to read a declaration under Standing Order 104. I solemnly declare that I will duly, faithfully and to the best of my knowledge and ability, execute the office of Cathaoirleach of the Oireachtas committee on transport and communications without fear or favour, apply the rules as laid down by the House in an impartial and fair manner, maintain order and uphold the rights and privileges of members in accordance with the Constitution and Standing Orders. I take this opportunity to thank the Leas-Chathaoirleach, Senator Horkan, for his very significant contribution to the committee as de facto Chairman for the past year or more, following the illness of former Deputy, Joe Carey. I know Members will want to join me in wishing former Deputy Carey a very long, healthy and comfortable retirement from politics at a very young age. We send our best wishes to him at this time.
